About

Less BI tool. More tool.

trend is for analysts and engineers who already think in SQL.

The middle was missing.

The BI market is bifurcated. On one side, enterprise tools that cost five figures, take a quarter to deploy, and need a dedicated team to maintain. On the other: developer-centric, self-hosted, with UX that punishes anyone who isn’t in the code daily.

Explo nailed the middle: a SQL-defined data layer plus a drag-and-drop dashboard editor that non-technical operators could view and filter and analysts could build in fast. Then they got acquired and shut down.

trend rebuilds that core loop, leaner.

The core loop is the whole product.

  1. Connect a database.
  2. Write SQL → save as a dataset.
  3. Drag a chart onto a canvas → bind it to a dataset.
  4. Drop in filter controls. They auto-create variables that bind into your dataset SQL.
  5. Publish. Teammates view, filter, export.

Everything else is detail. Embedding, scheduled deliveries, theming — but the loop above is what you spend 95% of your time doing.

What we believe.

Opinionated over configurable. A handful of chart types done well, not forty done poorly. Datasets and dashboards — nothing else in between. Sensible defaults on every panel.

Fast time-to-first-insight. Signup → connected → first dashboard in under thirty minutes. No credit card, no sales call. If we’re slower than that, we’ve failed the brief.

Simple pricing. One plan. Free viewers. No matrix to memorize.

What we’re not.

We’re not chasing feature parity with the big BI tools. We’re not building a plugin marketplace. We’re not built for enterprise. If we don’t do it well, we don’t do it.

If you want a one-product BI tool that gets out of your way, that an analyst can build in and a non-technical teammate can read, that doesn’t require a six-month migration plan to adopt — we built this for you.
